latest developments re: the pwr bttm allegations, which were confirmed to me personally last night by one of the victims’ friends:
- opening acts t-rextasy, nnamdi ogbonnaya, tancred, and iji have pulled out of pwr bttm’s upcoming tour
- hopscotch festival has removed pwr bttm from their lineup
- bled fest has removed pwr bttm from their lineup
- touring member cameron west has quit the band, saying that “these accusations were in fact levied via e-mail months ago, but were left unshared with other members of the band, including myself”
- touring member nicholas cummins has also quit the band and issued a statement
the reason pwr bttm’s career tanked so quickly is bc they were part of an extremely tight-knit scene whose entire objective is making their spaces safe, inclusive, and progressive. pwr bttm preached all of these values while simultaneously engaging in abusive behavior and undermining everything they were supposed to stand for. like yeah, i’m sure some hateful people jumped on an opportunity to watch a lgbt band fail but the context of pwr bttm’s fan base and community of peers is ESSENTIAL to how this has all played out
as what used to be one of the big pwr bttm blogs On Here, a quick reminder: ben hopkins can fucking rot :-)

Frank O’Hara, from Meditations in an Emergency
[poem title: For Grace, After A Party
poem text: You do not always know what I am feeling.
Last night, in the warm spring air while I was
blazing my tirade against someone who doesn’t
interest
me, it was love for you that set me
afire,
and isn’t it odd? for in rooms full of
strangers my most tender feelings
writhe and
bear the fruit of screaming. Put out your hand,
isn’t there
an ashtray, suddenly, there? beside
the bed? And someone you love enters the room
and says wouldn’t
you like the eggs a little
different today?
And when they arrive they are
just plain scrambled eggs and the warm weather
is holding. /end poem text.]
some of lirika matoshi’s pieces are so dreamy and makes you want to wear it on a summer’s day in italy.
